Details of Honda Fit Recall for 2010

Honda Fit is a compact utility vehicle and is rated as one of the best selling Honda vehicles in the country.

Honda is recalling roughly 97,000 Fit models for the year 2009-2010 due to problems with the motion springs.

The manufacturer claims that there are no crashes or injuries related to this issue till date. Here is the gist of Honda Fit Recall 2010 summary.

Recall Summary

Few of the 2010 Honda Fit vehicles were recalled on Feb 16th, 2010. Four spring assemblies present on the lift electronic control and variable valve timing failed in operation.

These springs are present in the valve train of the engine and are compressed using rocker arms. Failure of spring assemblies in the vehicle may lead to vehicle stalling at the time of operation. This inturn may increase the vehicle crash risk.

Remedy

Dealers will take care of replacing and inspecting the spring assemblies associated to the engine if required. Safety recall has started on March 7th and it is still going on. The number of potential units affected in the recall is around 97201.
