The 5-door hatchback compact model from the automobile producer, Honda, was first released in 2001 as 2002 vehicle. It uses the small car platform, which is also used by Mobilio Spike and Honda Airwave. The similar character in all the models is the location of engine. It is also called as Jazz in Oceania, Australia, Europe and in some parts of Asia.

The available engines during this generation include 1.2 liter I-4 version, 1.3 liter I-4 and 1.5 liter I-4. Available transmissions to the engines include 5-speed manual, continuously variable transmission (CVT) and 5-speed automatic transmission.

The 5-door hatchback model, Honda Fit, is designed and produced based on the GE platform. Three engine choices are offered, 1.2 liter I-4, 1.3 liter I-4 and 1.5 liter I-4. The exterior dimensions of the model have been increased. It has the wheel base of 98.4 inches, length of 156.9 inches, width of 66.7 inches and height of 60.0 inches. The fuel capacity in the tank is around 42 liters. The curb weight of the model is around 2,359 lbs. The Honda Fit released in this generation is related to Honda Freed, Honda Insight and Honda City V models.
